The new pandemic
Abstract
The SARS CoV-2 virus outbreak began in the city of Wuhan in China in late 2019 and was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020.
In Uruguay, on March 13 the first cases of the disease were confirmed and the government declared a health emergency and ordered the suspension of all educational levels as the main measures, instrumentation of telework in cases where it is required, an exhortation to reduce to the maximum mobility, the suspension of flights and the closing of borders with Argentina, the suspension of all public shows, an exhortation to follow measures of social isolation, among other measures that seek to avoid the spread of contagion. As of May 3, the number of confirmed cases is 652, people with 195 infection, 17 died with a case fatality rate of 2.6%. There were 97 confirmed cases in health personnel, which represents 14.8%, of these 79 recovered, 17 infected and 1 died. (,,,)
