For all submissions, it is mandatory to declare the use of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) or other technologies used in the submitted work. This must be indicated at the end of the manuscript in a footnote. This is a requirement for its evaluation, processing, and possible publication.

The proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) and large linguistic models (MLM) has led to their widespread use, and their potential for advancing science is promising. However, concerns exist regarding the validity, confidentiality, transparency, and accountability in the use of AI/MLM in scientific publication. Because AI can produce results that appear authoritative but may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased, humans are ultimately responsible for reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of any AI-generated content. Therefore, authors, reviewers, and editors/publishers should adhere to the following principles when using AI/MLL:

1) Authors should not list or cite AI or AI-assisted technologies as authors.

Because AI tools can incorporate information from sources without proper attribution (including copyrighted material), humans are responsible for citing appropriate sources, obtaining necessary permissions, and ensuring that plagiarism has not occurred when using content generated by AI tools.

2) Because manuscripts submitted to journals constitute confidential communication from authors, the use of AI tools for processing or evaluation may compromise confidentiality. Editors, reviewers, and publishers must not upload submitted manuscripts to AI systems where confidentiality cannot be guaranteed without the authors' explicit permission.

3) Editors, authors, and reviewers must be transparent about the use of AI tools at any stage of the editorial process, including manuscript preparation, editing, and revision.

 

When AI is used, the specific tool employed and its purpose must be clearly stated.
